Don Bradman laid to rest

Adelaide, March1: Cricket's greatest ever player Sir Donald Bradman was laid to rest in Adelaide on Thursday. Thousands lined the streets between the Australian hero's former home and the Centennial Park crematorium in South Adelaide to pay their last respects as the hearse went by. Bradman, who died on Sunday, had requested a private service to be followed by a public memorial.

Amongst the one hundred or so mourners at Thursday's remembrance were Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Governor-General Sir William Deane.

The public memorial will be held on will be held on the evening of Sunday 25 March at St Peter's Cathedral next to the Adelaide Oval and broadcast live across Australia.
